The 4LR44 is the alkaline version of the silver-oxide 4G-13 battery.
This 6volt design was used in a number of cameras (most notably, Canon ''A'' series SLR's) before auto-focusing became a regular feature.
This battery can also be found in a number of electronic instruments.
The alkaline version is less expensive but will not last as long as the silver-oxide version.
